Maximizing Your YouTube Channel: Updates, Safety Tips, and New Features

Published: July 1, 2022

Welcome to our latest roundup! We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates that can help you enhance your YouTube channel. Read on for the latest news and features that can elevate your YouTube journey.

Boost Your Monetization with Shopify Integration

Attention Shopify store owners or those considering an e-commerce venture: your YouTube channel can now serve as an additional storefront! It’s simple to integrate—go to your YouTube Studio, select ‘Monetization’, and then click on the ‘Shopping’ tab. This partnership allows you to feature your Shopify products in videos and live streams for viewers to purchase. Plus, there’s the added bonus of a dedicated ‘Store’ tab on your channel for an immersive shopping experience. Check out our detailed guide below for more information.

Improving Your Experience with Content ID Updates

The Content ID process has received two major improvements:

Quicker Appeals Resolution

Challenging a Content ID claim is now faster, with the appeals review that previously took up to 30 days now requiring a response within a mere 7 days. This greatly reduces wait times and aids in speeding up resolutions.

Direct Appeal for Block Claims

With the ‘Escalate to Appeal’ feature, creators facing disruptive block claims can now skip the initial dispute phase and move directly to an appeal. This process promises an even faster resolution, surpassing the traditional appeal timeline that could extend up to 60 days. Dive into our forum post below for more details on these updates.

Introducing the Creator Safety Center

Our new Creator Safety Center is a hub dedicated to the security of YouTube creators. Offering a compilation of safety tips, tools, and resources from experts and fellow content creators, this platform focuses on combating challenges such as account hijacking, harmful comments, and impersonation. The Safety Center is a wealth of knowledge to help you cultivate safe online environments for your communities and provides support when you need it most. Available initially in English, we aim to expand language availability. Discover more at youtube.com/creators/safety.

Create Shorts Instantly from Clips on iOS

iOS users, get ready to transform clips into Shorts with ease! Navigate to ‘Library’ then ‘Your clips’ to choose existing video snippets or record new ones. Tap on the ‘Create Short’ button to import your clip into a Short, where you can edit to your heart’s content with tools to trim, crop, and stylize using filters and text. Note that other creators won’t be able to make Shorts from content that’s yours. This feature will debut on iOS, with an Android release planned for the near future. Keep an eye out for its launch!

That’s all for August’s significant updates. We’re keen to hear your feedback, so please leave a comment below. Thanks for joining us, and here’s to your continued success on YouTube!
