Mastering YouTube Upload Strategies for Gaming Channels

Published: October 7, 2020

Consistency is a pivotal element in the path to success on YouTube, and this holds particularly true for gaming channels. The regular uploading of content enables audiences to know when to expect new videos, creating a sense of anticipation. Whether the upload frequency is once or three times weekly, adhering to a consistent schedule plays a crucial role in keeping your viewers engaged and expanding your audience.

That being said, the pursuit of consistency should not overshadow the importance of quality. Each video you upload must uphold a high level of quality. Should circumstances prevent you from maintaining your usual schedule, it is better to avoid rushing content of inferior quality just to hit a deadline.

Effective time management takes on even greater significance for those who operate multiple channels or handle various types of content. Taking the example of a creator running separate ‘Let’s Play’ and role-playing game channels, smart use of downtime can be a game-changer. Proactively scripting videos in advance during slower periods can help you stay ahead of schedule and reduce stress from last-minute scrambling.

Strategic planning is essential not only for upcoming content but also for long-term scheduling. A common method is the quarterly filming model, where creators dedicate several weeks to produce content well in advance, offering greater temporal flexibility and opening doors to pursue additional ventures beyond YouTube.

Moreover, having a backup plan is a valuable asset when unexpected situations occur that could interfere with your normal upload rhythm. Keeping a reserve of ready-to-publish videos can safeguard your channel against disruptions due to events such as travel or illness, ensuring that your posting calendar remains consistent.

From personal experience, I can attest to the effectiveness of strategic scheduling. Faced with a month-long absence, I successfully queued a total of 36 videos for both my main and secondary channels over the course of two and a half weeks. This experience demonstrates how careful planning can provide a safety net, allowing one to uphold a consistent upload schedule in the face of obstacles.

Last but not least, a valuable tactic for maintaining both content quality and consistent uploads is to deconstruct and streamline complex creative processes through thorough planning. This simplification can significantly expedite video production without sacrificing the high standards your viewers have come to expect.
