We were able to calculate this based on some investigative work with public data.
YouTube is quite guarded when it comes to sharing official data about channel growth and size across its platform. However, it’s possible to make an educated guess about the number of YouTube channels with more than 1 million subscribers by leveraging publicly available information and conducting a bit of research.
One way to do this is by searching for “1M subscribers” on YouTube. This search will show you channels celebrating the milestone of reaching 1 million subscribers. To narrow down the results, you can use the filters in the YouTube search to find videos published within the past week.
Once you’ve identified a channel that recently celebrated the 1 million subscriber milestone recently, you can use a tool like SocialBlade to gather more information. SocialBlade is a platform that maintains a database of millions of YouTube channels. By entering the channel name into SocialBlade, you can discover its ranking among all the YouTube channels in their database. Additionally, SocialBlade provides information on how many channels have a larger subscriber count than the one you’ve selected.
By doing this we were able to get to the stats shared in this post.
Our friends at Kapwing did a similar post at the beginning of 2023. So if you’re interested in seeing how the numbers have changed, please check out their post here.
