Understanding YouTube Shorts Analytics, Susan’s Letter, and More | Creator Roundup

Published: January 28, 2022

Welcome Back, Creators!

Hello, creators! Daniel here, and I’m thrilled to kick off our first Creator Roundup of the year. There are some thrilling updates and insights in store for you. Without further ado, let’s jump in.

Introducing YouTube Shorts Analytics

For everyone engaged in or contemplating the jump into YouTube Shorts, I have fantastic news. You can now access vital statistics right within the YouTube app, uncovering key metrics like views, watch time, and subscriber count. Just hit the Analytics button when in the Shorts player to get a more profound understanding of how your short-form content is performing.

And if you’re in need of more granular analytics, the YouTube Studio mobile app is your go-to. It’s packed with an extensive suite of features that provide an in-depth look at your channel’s overall performance and audience interaction.

Enhancements to Live Control Room Access

Effective live streaming often calls for a coordinated effort, and to improve this, we’ve deployed a nifty update. Now, managers or editors can provide access to the Live Control Room from within YouTube Studio. This addition makes for seamless moderation of live chats, as well as scheduling or terminating live broadcasts. Additionally, authorized users can oversee the live stream’s analytics and data in the Live Control Room without needing access to stream keys or other sensitive settings.

Insights from Susan’s Annual Letter

Our CEO, Susan Wojcicki, outlined the focal points for YouTube in 2022 in her annual letter. Our guiding stars this year are the expansion of our creator ecosystem, heightened focus on the promotion of YouTube Shorts, and ensuring the safety of our community through enforced policies and initiatives. Dive into the full spectrum of updates by watching Susan’s detailed video letter.

The Evolution of Community Forums

The community forums are abuzz with feature rollouts and news crafted for the various facets of our eclectic creator base—from YouTube Partner Program (YPP) Creators and Gaming Creators to Short-form Content Enthusiasts and Viewers. It’s now simpler than ever to keep abreast of the updates that are most relevant to you. Just subscribe to the forum threads that match your interests and stay in the loop!
