Optimizing Your YouTube Channel on Mobile: New Features and Important Updates

Published: December 24, 2021

Welcome back, creators! It’s time for our Monthly Roundup, where we bring you the latest updates and features from TeamYouTube. In this edition, we’re thrilled to talk about new features for mobile channel editing, important changes to monetization requirements, and an improved shoutout feature. Let’s delve into how these developments can enhance your YouTube journey.

Mobile Channel Editing Made Easy

Updating your profile picture and channel banner is now a breeze with the YouTube main app—straight from your mobile device. This convenient feature allows creators to make quick visual adjustments while on the move. Simply tap on your profile picture, select your channel, and then choose ‘Edit Channel’ to modify your profile picture or banner. When you’re finished, hit save. It couldn’t be easier!

Multilingual Support for Creators Website

We’re excited to announce that the main website for creators (YouTube.com/creators) now offers support in 29 languages. Catering to our diverse global creator community, this revamped resource hub delivers essential insights into branding, monetization, community growth, and more, ensuring every creator has the tools they need to succeed, regardless of language.

Two-Step Verification Requirement Update

Starting November 1st, monetizing creators must have two-step verification enabled to access YouTube Studio and its content manager. This essential security step is required not only for individual creators but also for anyone with access to a channel. If you haven’t set up two-step verification or are uncertain about its status, now’s the time to act. Activating this feature ensures uninterrupted access and harmony with our security protocols.

Expanded @ Mentions Feature Access

Creators with at least 500 subscribers, we have some great news for you! The @ mentions feature, which enables shoutouts to other channels in your video titles or descriptions, is now available to you. This feature, once exclusive to channels with over 1,000 subscribers, is designed to enhance connectivity among growing channels and boost visibility through mutual recognition.

Keeping up to date with these updates is essential for optimizing your channel on YouTube. As a creator and curator of engaging content, staying informed will help you navigate these changes and maximize the potential of your platform.
