Maximizing Your YouTube Channel in 2021: New Premieres Features, Ad-friendly Guidelines, and More

Published: March 12, 2021

Welcome back to our first monthly roundup of 2021! As we embark on a new year filled with opportunities for creators, let’s delve into the key features and updates that will enhance your YouTube channel. Whether you’re a veteran creator or just beginning your journey, the following insights are invaluable for boosting your content and connecting with your audience more effectively.

Mastering Ad-Friendly Guidelines

Members of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) who use self-certification should pay close attention to the revised guidelines for completing the self-certification questionnaire. These guidelines detail precise criteria for ad suitability across various types of content, including how to appropriately label videos with different levels of profanity. Gaming creators, facing unique monetization challenges, can now refer to a specialized monetization guide tailored to their content.

Leveraging New Premieres Features

Premieres are a dynamic way to engage with viewers, and now two new features have been introduced to amplify this engagement. The Live Redirect function lets you create an introductory lead-in for your Premiere. It seamlessly transitions viewers from a live stream to your upcoming Premiere. Moreover, the introduction of Trailers allows you to share exciting previews on your Premiere watch page, giving your audience a glimpse of what’s to come.

Unlocking Potential with Channel Memberships

If you haven’t heard the news from December, channel memberships have expanded! Now, creators with at least 1,000 subscribers in 80 countries have the opportunity to activate this feature. If you qualify and are intrigued by the prospect of channel memberships but unsure where to start, we’ve got you covered with resources. Check our description for links to see if you’re eligible and to find inspiration on our Creator Blog.

As we say goodbye to January and greet February with open arms, we extend our warmest wishes to all creators. May the year ahead be filled with personal and professional growth, along with abundant success and fulfillment!
