Maximizing Your YouTube Channel: Choosing Shorts Thumbnails, Live Product Drops, and Managing Channel Permissions

Published: September 15, 2023

Welcoming all YouTube creators to our latest Creator Roundup, where we highlight the newest features rolled out to spice up your channels and connect with audiences like never before. Whether you’re keen on picking the most engaging thumbnail for your YouTube Shorts or eager to announce live product launches, not to mention the new ways to handle channel permissions, we’re here with all the details. Dive into these exciting tools designed to take your YouTube presence to the next level.

Custom Thumbnails for Shorts

YouTube now grants you the power to choose a thumbnail for your Shorts. Post-production, hit the pencil icon displayed on the suggested thumbnail within the ‘Add Details’ section. You get to pick any frame from your Short to lead as the face of your video. Seize this opportunity to draw viewers in with thumbnails that pop!

Product Launches During Live Streams

Creators eager to showcase new merchandise can now make a splash with live Product Drops on YouTube. Linking with Google Merchant Center or Shopify and setting up the drop two weeks ahead of your stream enables a teaser shopping bag icon for viewers. As the product unveils live, it’s made instantly available for purchase, adding a thrilling shopping twist to your broadcasts.

Elevated Channel Permissions Management

Great news for YouTube channel managers and editors! It’s now possible to upload posts, share comments, and even manage playlists on behalf of the channel owner directly from the mobile main app. Go to your profile settings to access and manage these new capabilities. Navigate to Studio > Settings > Permissions to assign specific roles and elevate your channel teamwork.

Streamlined Ads With Automation

Say hello to ads automation, a feature making lives easier by auto-inserting mid-roll ads at preset intervals during your live streams. Worry not; you’ll still have the option to skip these ads at your discretion. Activate this by going to your Stream Dashboard > Edit > Monetization, then turn on monetization and select ‘automatically placed mid-rolls’. This new tool aims to streamline your monetization process with minimal fuss.

We trust these updates will equip you with additional strength in your creative arsenal! We’re passionate about enhancing your YouTube experience and are all ears for suggestions. Have ideas for new features? We’re one comment away—share your thoughts with our community.
